Swim With Purpose Appoints Chuck Geveden to Board of Directors

Frankfort, KY — January 21, 2025 — Swim With Purpose (SWP), a charitable initiative founded to raise $1M to support the restoration of the indoor aquatic facility at Kentucky State University’s (KSU) William Exum Center, today announced that Frankfort community activist, business leader and law-enforcement professional, Chuck Geveden has been appointed to its Board of Directors.
In December, Swim With Purpose announced a $50,000 grant was made to KSU to fund the design and bid preparation phases of the renovation project, helping expedite progress toward the reopening of the aquatic facility.
“It is exciting to have someone with deep connections in the community join our board and be a voice for the importance of bringing swimming and swim lessons back to Frankfort for the safety, health, and recreation of residents,” said Sam Taylor, Chairman and Co-Founder of Swim With Purpose. “With more than 12 years of experience in the corrections industry, strong community involvement, and a proven track record of leadership, we are confident that Chuck’s expertise will be invaluable in raising awareness and critical support for restoring the KSU aquatic facility.”
“I’m looking forward to working with my fellow Swim With Purpose board members, as well as local and state officials and leaders, to bring the mission of reopening the KSU pool to fruition,” said Geveden. “As a husband and father of three in this community, I too, want all children to have access to swimming lessons and the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of swimming.”
Born and raised in Western Kentucky, Chuck Geveden began his career in law enforcement. He moved to Frankfort 25 years ago and has since worked in state government as an Executive Director and Chief Administrative Officer, managing multi-million-dollar budgets and leading teams of more than 100 employees. Currently, Geveden serves as Director of Business Development with ViaPath Technologies, a company that provides re-entry programs and inmate communications to correctional facilities nationwide.
In addition to his professional career, Geveden remains active in law enforcement as a sworn deputy for Franklin County Sheriff Chris Quire. His extensive community involvement includes serving as a member of the Praise and Worship Team at Capital City Christian Church, Chairman of the City of Frankfort Parks and Recreation Board, Chairman of the Frankfort Wetherby Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, and as a current board member of the Wanda Joyce Robinson Foundation. He is also a past board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bluegrass, and a past recipient of both the Big Brother Big Sister of the Year Award, and the Optimist Club of Frankfort Service to Youth Award.
